Nikolai nodded "We could use some supplies, so sure." He replied, wondering what else she had picked up from the bags. Water, food, a tent. Those were the primary things he knew they were going to need, secondary things like deodorant were also on his mind. Beyond that though, he had no idea what else she had planned to get.

They made it to the local Wal-mart without any issues. She went up to the customer service desk with a pack of gum so they could tell her how much was on the card.

$48.73

She thanked the clerk then headed for the camping area, picking up a one person tent. They were in no position to look into a two-person or more tent. Plus it would look less suspicious if the police were to look into anyone who bought survival supplies.

Gathering food and drinks, they were still able to afford some deodorant, toilet paper, and a large jug of water.

"You know, something else we're going to have to look at getting when we've got the money would be some blankets" He remarked as they walked out the door. It was still summertime, but fall was coming quickly, and with it, the chill.

"Well, we have a bit of money left on the card," Sophia replied as they left the store and headed to a wooded area nearby. "There was another $10 Walmart card, and then we had four other cards, too."

Once they were nestled in the woods, she pulled out the tent. "Mind helping me? I suck at camping." She ripped open a can of tuna and scarfed it down, offering one to Nikolai.

"No thank you" He said, beginning to put the tent together "I'll take one of those water bottles though" He told her, ripping open one of the bags with the tent poles. It wasn't a particularly complicated tent, so it didn't take long to finish.

"You don't like tuna?" Sophia asked in shock as she also took a water bottle. He finished setting the tent up fairly quickly, which surprised her.

"Did you go camping a lot before?"

"Nah, just not hungry" He told her with a slight smile. When she asked him about camping he went quiet for a moment, his mood changed entirely, became darker, before he suddenly snapped back into focus. "When I was younger, yeah. We'd all go camping at least once a year, right up until they all... Died." He said the last word quietly.

"Anyway, yeah." He said, breaking leafy branches down from trees and laying them over the tent. "Camouflage." He explained simply.

Sophia let the conversation go as she didn't know what to reply. The camp looked decent enough. She decided to toss some blankets from the donation area into the tent.

"You can sleep first. I'll take first watch." It may have been mid-day, but if they didn't want to risk getting caught, then they would need to travel at night.

Dorian nodded Some, "Alright, wake me in four hours then I suppose." He told her, wrapping himself up on the ground in the blankets.

Several hours later, and after they'd both gotten a turn to sleep, it had gotten dark. The day had been uneventful, so they were alright so far. After they cleaned up the camp and Dorian cleared out the traces of their presence they made their way out. "We've got a ways to go" He said with a tired sigh and a stretch as they began walking

They headed out. They were still about thirty miles from Trent's house, and given how tired she was, they would be lucky to travel more than five miles today. That was one of the most annoying side effects to her medication. Fatigue. No matter how much sleep she received, it was never enough. Thankfully, the meds seemed to have kept her mind in check earlier in the day. No hallucinations or break downs.

A few hours passed without trouble. They were nearing the outskirts of the city. First thing they needed to do was to get out, then head for her brother's in one of the smaller cities surrounding the area.

They reached a gas station and Sophia was busting to use a real restroom. After begging Dorian to go to the gas station, she headed to the counter and asked for the key. She rushed to the restroom. After she finished her business, she looked into the mirror. A shocked breath escaped her. Was this her? She looked so pale from what she remembered. She could hardly recognize herself. Splashing some cold water on her face to wash off the sticky sweat and grime from the day, she dried her face.

As she was about to leave the restroom, she noticed something shine just underneath the trash can. Her breath caught. There it was. Calling to her. Screaming for her to take it. Panic rose, her heart beat increased. No, don't, her mind screamed. But the adrenaline was all ready rushing.

All rational thought went out the door and she found herself grabbing the used razor blade and dragging it across her skin. Relief rushed through her as the blood gushed out. It was the high she missed. The one she hadn't had in weeks. Her last attempt was with a plastic cafeteria fork. This was better. Much better.

She let herself slide down to the dirty floor, her back against the caked wall. Her head rested back as she let out a thankful sigh of joy. At last. At last she could do it again. Despite wanting to stay there forever and do it again, she knew she had to get back to Dorian before he came looking. Not that she actually expected him to, considering he only care for himself.

Stuffing the blade into the pocket book she grabbed from the donation bin, she grabbed some towels to slow the bleeding. Wrapping them around her bleeding wrist, she lowered her sleeve and walked out, handing the key back to the guy. This time, she had a smile. She could take anything now. Her safety net was with her.

"There you are. We need to get going. We're famous." He told her looking back over his shoulder through the gas stations window. The TV inside was showing a news report regarding a breakout from the asylum. The woman who had left them had gotten herself caught, fifteen miles in the other direction. "We should be fine for now, they're looking in the wrong way, but we still need to be careful. Can't risk getting caught."

Agreeing, they headed out and away from the gas station. Sophia pulled a hat from the pack she had, then put it on. Nothing too suspicious, but it would do as a disguise and to keep the heat off her. Her stomach grumbled, but she ignored it and continued on.

Not too long after they had left, she was getting awfully hot. Sweat was beginning to pool at her shirt collar. "I need shade," she whispered, realizing they had nothing to drink still.

Dorian looked at her for a moment and then nodded. "Yeah, alright, let's head over there." He said pointing to a nearby park. It was fairly secluded, so it appeared to be safe, and there were drinking fountains as well. It'd be a good spot to rest for a while, but they would need to keep moving.

They strode over to the drinking fountains where Sophia found herself gulping the water. When she had finally had her fill, she let out an exasperated sigh of appreciation. "Man, that was good!" Then she let some water trickle onto her hand before she lightly splashed her face with the semi-cool water.

"You alright?" He asked as he caught up with her. He wasn't doing too bad, although he was fairly thirsty. He'd gotten accustomed to the thirst. It seemed that no matter how much alcohol he'd ever consumed, it never seemed like it was enough, so he'd gotten to the point that he didn't drink anything for periods of time.

Turning toward him, she grinned - water dripping down her chin. "Never felt better." With that, she pushed the silver button. Once the water started to flow, she dipped her hand underneath the stream and quickly swung her hand, along with droplets of water, toward Dorian.

The water hit Dorian, and he couldn't help but laugh despite himself. He couldn't quite place it, but there was something about this girl that was having an unusual effect on him. She still irritated him, there was definitely no doubt about that, but she also somehow managed to make him laugh. Something that nobody had managed to do since the accident. "Brat" He grumbled quietly, trying to suppress the laughter. He had to keep them on track.

Still grinning, she turned to get another large gulp before she was ready to head off again. "Butt," she replied simply before walking past him. As she did, she gently grabbed his sleeve, pulling him after her.

"You're too quiet. Tell me your full name," she requested.

"H-hey! Easy now" He told her letting out another quiet laugh before bringing himself back under control. "My name? It's sort of a mouthful." He told her, before catching the look she gave him "Oh alright, my name is Dorian Emiliano Felice." He muttered. "What about yours?"

A smirk passed over her lips as she pulled him with her. "That's an awesome name. Especially love the Emiliano part. Makes me think of Milliardo Peacecraft from Gundam Wing." Her words were quick and crisp.

"And just letting you know, apparently I'm on a high right now." Again, she turned to grin at him. "But I do like that you are talking to me now. Much easier to be less miserable."

"I... Have no idea what you're talking about" He told her, regarding the Gundam Wing thing, but he smiled when she said that she was more at peace. "Alright, I'll get a drink and then we should probably get moving." He told her, stooping down to get some water for himself.

After he had finished his drink, they headed off again. Back to the walk. It was several hours before nightfall fell upon them. It had been almost an entire day since they escaped. Sophia was excited to see her brother again, finally. Her idiotic parents had forbid Trent from seeing her while she was in the hospital. It was only two years ago he was able to finally visit, though he hadn't. She suspected it was - again - her parents' doing. They thought he was the reason she was so ill. Though, they really didn't understand. At all.

Pushing the thoughts back, Sophia tiredly looked around at their surroundings. They were at the edge of the city. They had decided to walk along the interstate, but kept in the wooded areas as much as possible. Despite the hot day, the night had cooled off considerably. It was cold enough Sophia was shivering, which was almost unusual.

"How are you?" They had both been pretty quiet other than the occasional directive proposition.

"I haven't been able to feel my nose for about an hour now, you?" He asked, trying to crack a smile. She was a terribly slow walker, but at least she was getting to be good company. Suddenly he had an idea "Here we go" He muttered pulling his bag open and pulling out the blanket that he'd kept in there. "Come here, we can stay warm together with this"

His kind gesture startled her, though she accepted it and leaned into him for the blanket. "Thank you," she muttered and gave him a slight smile. They would need to rest again soon. At least, Sophia would. It had been a long twenty-four hours.

In just a couple hours, Sophia began to trip over her own feet. Once, she had accidentally tripped and pulled the blanket off (your character's name - I forget). Now, she turned tiredly toward him. "Sleep?" She yawned for the sixth time in the last hour, not bothering to cover her mouth this time.

Dorian looked over at her. She was barely standing. Quietly he nodded, leading them off into the woods. He quickly set up the lean-to tent and unrolled the sleeping bag for her. "I'll keep watch, no worries, alright?" He asked her, reassuringly. It had been a long day, and the pace was aggravatingly slow. Normally he could cover three miles an hour, but with her along, he was starting to wonder if she actually wanted to see her brother. Still, he couldn't just abandon her now. She'd triggered something inside of him. A Part of him that actually enjoyed life, and so he didn't want to leave her. At least not until he knew she was safe.
